Grandma's salt caramels . . .
Ingredients . . .
2 sticks unsalted butter
4 cups white sugar
2 cups corn syrup
1 tsp salt
Bring to a boil
Instructions . . .
Stirring constantly, pour in 2 cans of evaporated milk, a little at a time, taking 10 minutes per can . . . continue stirring as mixture gets nice and dark. Add thermometer and bring caramel to 238º.
Pour into a 9 x 13 pan lined with parchment paper, wait a bit and sprinkle with salt.
Let cool completely and then refrigerate for 30 minutes before cutting.
Parchment wrappers: they work best!
