Students, OPP kick-off Torch Run . . .

Tuesday, June 12th - Provincial Police Constables Stacey Campbell and Tylor Copeland flank Special Olympian and medal winner in 2007, 2011 and 2015, Christina Judd (left) and Olympian William, at the kick-off of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario.

The OPP support is a year-round commitment, part of the 365-day-a-year fundraising program and today the students at Morrisburg Public School took part in the venture. Following a discussion with Ms. Judd the students accompanied the torch and banner bearers through the community, eventually stopping at Quesada, 123 Main Street, where the owners of the popular eatery provide the group with lunch.

The annual Torch Run has become the top fundraiser in the Special Olympics program having raised more than $30 million in the past 30 years. The Torch Run program also boast that "over 80 cents of every dollar donated directly benefits Special Olympic athletes."
